Description:
The course is designed for water treatment plant operators, wastewater treatment plant operators, code enforcement officials, plumbing contractors and consultants. Chapter 1 covers basic backflow hydraulics. Chapter 2 covers the different types of cross-connections and the degree of hazard. Chapter 3 describes in detail how to apply protection and to prevent backflow using airgaps and backflow prevention devices. Chapter 3 will also explain how the devices work and will cover proper installation guidelines. Chapter 4 will teach you where to look for cross-connections in many different types of facilities and it will define what type of protection is appropriate based on the type of cross-connection, the degree fo hazard and other considerations such as pressure loss. Chapter 5 defines sprinkler systems and the different type of classifications of fire sprinkler systems and discusses the specific concerns of applying CCC protection on fire protection systems. Chapter 6 covers CCC laws, regulations and liability. Chapter 7 teaches students the process of conducting an actual CCC survey, including proper documentation, notification and recordkeeping. A written exam will be given at the conclusion of the course to evaluate the students mastery of the subject matter a score of 70% or higher is required. On the 4th day students will conduct a detail Cross-Connection Control Survey as a practical exercise.
